The writings centre round the Person and offices of Christ. Though expository in style they are not intended as formal studies of these elevated themes, but rather are meditations upon the greatness and glory of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and they seek to show how the doctrines of Scripture derive their sum and substance from Him. The great passages of the New Testament, and, indeed, those also of the Old, are inspired by the vision of Christ. Nothing in Holy Scripture is allowed to obscure or displace this central theme. Some additional chapters on "The Good Life" supplement the earlier papers.
